Part Time Custodian

The Minnesota Humanities Event Center is a full service facility with 3 multipurpose event spaces, breakout spaces, 15 overnight guest rooms, and onsite catering. The Event Center is seeking a part-time custodian to work evenings. This position will report to the Event Center Director.

Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience, $14-$16 per hour
Location: St. Paul
Hours: Part-time:15-20 hours per week (evenings)

The Custodian for the Minnesota Humanities Center is responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness of the Event Center. In addition, the Custodian is responsible for evening room setups/teardowns, general building cleanliness of public areas and other duties as assigned.


GENERAL CLEANING: Maintains presentable building with general cleaning of offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, and public areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: emptying garbage and recycling, vacuuming, wiping down meeting room tables, dusting, polishing, and washing windows, and floors throughout building.

SETUP/TEARDOWN: Assists with event logistics in the proper set-up and take down of furnishing for various events. This involves moving tables and chairs, re-arranging furniture, bussing dishes, setting up audio-visual equipment, etc.

TEAM PLAYER: Demonstrate supportive behavior as a team member by cooperating with other employees, volunteering for extra duties, and supporting agency-wide goals.

PERFORM: other duties, accountabilities and projects as assigned.


Previous custodial or cleaning experience is preferred. Key competencies include: customer service skills, team player, adaptability, enthusiasm, and dependability.


This is a Part Time position and you can expect to work 15-20 hours per week. The shifts will be Monday-Friday. An average shift is approximately 4-5 hours long between the hours of 4:00-9:00 p.m.
